For experienced researchers, the fellowship offers €3,600 per month plus additional benefits. The funding period ranges from 6 to 18 months, also divisible into up to three stays within three years. Eligibility generally requires completion of a doctorate within the last twelve years, supported by a strong and extensive publication record. In fields where a doctorate is uncommon, applicants may apply up to 16 years after a master’s degree, provided their publication profile matches their career stage. Additional support includes language courses, family allowances, travel subsidies, and health insurance support. Fellows receive personal guidance throughout the fellowship, and long-term alumni programmes support future collaborations, return fellowships, and continued engagement with Germany’s research landscape.
