The Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Mitochondrial Psychobiology Laboratory at NYSPI/Columbia. The laboratory conducts translational research aimed at uncovering cellular mechanisms underlying mind–body interactions, with a strong focus on mitochondrial biology. This position combines laboratory and data-driven research within a collaborative clinical and academic environment. The successful candidate will oversee biological and data-processing pipelines investigating stress-related mitochondrial signaling, including cell-free mitochondrial DNA (cf-mtDNA) and metabolic stress markers such as GDF15 and FGF21 across multiple biofluids. Responsibilities include processing biological samples, performing DNA extraction, qPCR, and ELISA assays, analyzing data, preparing technical and scientific reports, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications. The role involves close collaboration with internal and external research partners.
