Lund University’s Faculty of Science invites applications for a six-year Associate Senior Lectureship (Assistant Professor) in Analytical Chemistry, offering a clear career path toward promotion to Senior Lecturer and long-term academic advancement. This tenure-track position provides institutional support, mentoring, and resources equivalent to at least one doctoral studentship, ensuring strong foundations for establishing an independent research programme.
The position is based in the Department of Chemistry, a diverse and collaborative environment closely connected with world-class research infrastructures including ESS, MAX IV, advanced mass spectrometry platforms, NMR, cleanrooms, and state-of-the-art analytical laboratories. Analytical chemistry at Lund University spans multiple research centres, with CAS hosting extensive education and research across analytical, materials, organic, inorganic, and polymer chemistry.
Main responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality independent research in analytical chemistry.
- Contribute to teaching and supervision across bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.
- Build an active research group and seek external funding to support its development.
- Collaborate across department units, the university, and external partners to strengthen research activity and societal engagement.
- Participate in administration, leadership, and programme development as needed.
Required qualifications:
- PhD in analytical chemistry (normally within the past 7 years) with a postdoctoral stay or equivalent experience at a different institution.
- Demonstrated ability to publish scientific work in reputable channels.
- Strong research plan with potential to secure external funding.
- Excellent English proficiency and strong communication skills.
Desired experience:
- Track record in obtaining research grants, supervising students, or contributing to leadership activities.
- Expertise in analytical chromatography, method development, or instrument-intensive workflows.
- Ability to strengthen existing research directions within the department.
Non-Swedish speakers are expected to reach CEFR B1 Swedish within three years to contribute to teaching and communication duties.
