The Cardiac Device Technician plays a critical role in supporting electrophysiology services by monitoring, analyzing, and managing cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) across inpatient and outpatient settings. This position works closely with electrophysiologists, advanced practice providers, and the device nursing team to ensure patient safety and optimal device performance.
Key responsibilities and expectations include:

Monitoring and reviewing cardiac rhythms both in person and via remote, vendor-based monitoring platforms.

Identifying pacemaker capture, sensing issues, and basic heart rhythms.

Analyzing device data to detect abnormalities or clinically significant events and collaborating with physicians on care planning.

Reviewing and interpreting remote device downloads, including complex arrhythmias and clinical scenarios.

Preparing detailed summary reports of findings such as pacing thresholds, device therapies, thoracic impedance, and arrhythmia burden for clinical review.

Reviewing operative cases to determine magnet appropriateness and coordinating with anesthesia providers to ensure safe device programming.

Performing post-procedure safety checks and device reprogramming according to provider orders.

Conducting device interrogations, reprogramming, and functional assessments during clinic visits or remotely.

Supporting perioperative device needs, including rotational on-call responsibilities.

Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of device implants, follow-ups, and interventions.

Providing education to patients and families regarding device function and care, as appropriate.
Required qualifications:

Relevant experience as a pacemaker or cardiac device technician, or a similar role in a cardiology setting.

Graduation from an accredited cardiac device program, certification in cardiac device management, or experience managing home monitoring for ICDs and pacemakers.

High school diploma or GED.
Preferred qualifications:
-
Minimum of 5 years’ experience with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs).

Certification as a Cardiac Device Specialist (IBHRE).

Experience with device platforms such as PACEART, CareLink, Latitude, Merlin, Abbott/St. Jude, and Biotronik systems.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
