Key Responsibilities & Important Information
- Core Custodial Duties
- Operate carpet, upholstery, mechanical cleaning, and floor-scrubbing equipment to maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Strip, screen, refinish, and wet mop all types of floor surfaces, including stairways and high-traffic areas.
- Clean and wax furniture, fixtures, cases, and furnishings to preserve appearance and longevity.
- Clean mirrors, windows (interior and exterior entrance glass), ceiling fixtures, and spot-wash walls to remove marks and fingerprints.
- Building & Grounds Maintenance
- Maintain entrances by sweeping, salting, leaf blowing, and snow removal as required for safety and accessibility.
- Clean building grounds by collecting trash and debris around assigned facilities.
- Open and lock buildings or rooms and turn lights and equipment on or off as needed.
- Move and arrange furniture and furnishings for daily operations or special needs.
- Restroom & Waste Management
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, urinals, and sinks without dismantling fixtures.
- Restock restroom supplies and maintain hygiene standards.
- Collect, transport, and dispose of waste materials in designated areas following safety guidelines.
- Equipment & Inventory
- Operate custodial equipment and perform basic upkeep to ensure safe and effective use.
- Obtain cleaning supplies and maintain inventory according to department instructions.
- Physical & Safety Requirements
- Routinely move items weighing up to 50 lbs and safely use ladders to access elevated surfaces such as blinds, ledges, and windows.
- Follow safety procedures, communicate effectively, and carry out instructions accurately.
- Qualifications
- Required: Ability to perform physical tasks, follow directions, and communicate clearly.
- Preferred: High school diploma or GED.
- Work Schedule & Employment Details
- Full-time, regular position: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM (40 hours/week, year-round).
- Hourly pay range: $20.42 – $21.62, with annual salary approximately $42,473.60 – $44,969.60.
- Onsite work location: Ann Arbor Campus.
