The University of Bath is seeking an exceptional Digital Portfolio Director to lead its flagship Digital Foundations Portfolio, a £20–30 million, five-year transformation programme that underpins the University’s long-term strategic priorities. This senior leadership role offers a rare opportunity to shape digital transformation at institutional scale within one of the UK’s leading universities.
Reporting within the Digital, Data & Technology Group, the postholder will define and deliver a university-wide digital vision that enhances research capability, teaching innovation, and staff and student experiences. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery and requires the ability to operate confidently in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
Key responsibilities and expectations include:

Setting the strategic vision, governance, and operating model for digital transformation across the University.

Leading a complex portfolio covering research computing, education technology, enterprise platforms, and core digital infrastructure.

Ensuring delivery of measurable benefits and tangible improvements to staff and student experiences.

Engaging senior leadership and building strong partnerships across academic and professional services.

Managing relationships with key third-party partners, including major technology providers.

Championing organisational and cultural change by embedding new ways of working and building long-term digital capability.
