The University of Bath is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Systems, Data and Insights to lead digital innovation and data-driven decision-making within its Advancement Office. This senior role offers a unique opportunity to shape how data, systems, and insight are used to strengthen alumni engagement, fundraising performance, and institutional impact at one of the UK’s leading universities.

The Advancement Office is responsible for engaging alumni and supporters worldwide and for delivering fundraising activity that supports the University’s strategic priorities. The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with hands-on technical delivery, ensuring that data and systems are not only well-governed and compliant, but actively drive smarter decisions and stronger relationships.

Key responsibilities and expectations include:

  • Leading and developing a high-performing team of systems and data professionals, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Owning and optimising the alumni CRM system Raiser’s Edge NXT, ensuring it effectively supports fundraising, engagement, and operational efficiency.

  • Acting as the technical lead for Advancement systems and data architecture.

  • Delivering high-quality insights, dashboards, and reporting to enable evidence-based decision-making across the institution.

  • Championing data governance, quality, security, and resilience, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and related regulations.

  • Representing the Advancement Office in cross-university initiatives and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

  • Empowering colleagues to self-serve data and insights through appropriate tools and processes.

  • Balancing long-term strategy with hands-on execution, personally delivering high-impact technical and change initiatives.

About the successful candidate:

  • Extensive experience working with relational databases (experience with Raiser’s Edge is highly desirable).

  • Proven track record of delivering complex IT, data, and change management projects.

  • Strong people leadership skills, including experience leading teams and setting strategic direction.

  • Deep understanding of data protection, compliance, and governance.

  • Technical fluency in business intelligence and reporting platforms (Power BI experience an advantage).

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
