Core Role Summary
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or designated clinical supervisor
- Support a safe, clean, and efficient patient care environment
- Serve as a critical frontline team member contributing to patient comfort, dignity, and safety
Primary Responsibilities
- Patient Observation & Monitoring:
- Measure and record vital signs, oxygen saturation, pain scores, intake/output
- Observe patient conditions and report abnormalities to nursing staff
- Assist with procedures, respond to alarms, and function as a patient sitter
- Clinical Support & Specimen Collection:
- Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection (blood, urine, stool, swabs)
- Transport specimens and maintain calibrated equipment
- Patient Care & Daily Living Support:
- Assist with hygiene, mobility, feeding, toileting, positioning, and skin care
- Support patients during ambulation, transfers, and rehabilitation activities
- Wound, Respiratory & Specialized Care:
- Clean and dress non-sterile wounds, assist with complex dressings
- Support tracheostomy care and respiratory exercises
- Environment & Safety:
- Prepare patient rooms, stock supplies, clean equipment, and maintain unit order
- Assist with admissions, discharges, emergency response, and documentation
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Ability to read and write
- One of the following:
- At least 6 months of recent patient care experience, or
- Junior status in an accredited BSN program, or
- Second year in an accredited ADN program
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification as a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant
- Experience in an acute inpatient care setting
- Basic computer skills
Work Schedule
- Night shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 24 hours per week, including every other weekend and some holidays
