The University of Iowa’s College of Education invites applications for an open-rank clinical-track faculty position in Elementary Education, beginning August 19, 2026. Housed within the Department of Teaching and Learning, this role supports the preparation of exemplary elementary educators through high-quality instruction, school partnerships, and practicum-centered learning experiences. Appointment rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Clinical Professor) will be determined by qualifications and experience.
Clinical faculty at Iowa play a vital role in the mission of the Elementary Education Program, teaching 3–4 courses per semester while engaging in curriculum development, coordination of field experiences, K-12 school collaboration, and service to departmental and college initiatives. The position emphasizes practicum-based learning, where teacher candidates engage in authentic classroom experiences aligned with core subject areas such as literacy, mathematics, science, and inclusive pedagogy. Faculty are also required to collaborate with K–12 teachers for at least four hours per semester, contributing directly to instruction and practice in school settings.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate success in elementary classroom teaching, expertise in designing and supervising field experiences, and a strong commitment to educational justice, inclusion, and partnership-based teacher preparation.
