The University of Nottingham is seeking an experienced Operations Manager (Facilities & Infrastructure) to join the School of Life Sciences. This full-time position plays a central role in ensuring that facilities across multiple Life Sciences buildings remain safe, functional, and aligned with the evolving needs of teaching, research, and innovation.
The postholder will lead the operational and strategic management of facilities and infrastructure, working closely with senior academic, technical, and professional services colleagues. Key responsibilities include planning and delivering space and infrastructure projects, supporting estates planning, contributing to wider faculty initiatives, and ensuring compliance with university policies and safety standards. You will also support the School’s Estates and Infrastructure Committee and help shape decisions that impact academic and research environments.
About the successful candidate:
You will bring proven experience in estates and facilities management, alongside strong interpersonal and communication skills. A proactive, solutions-focused approach, confidence handling data and budgets, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential. Experience working within research or laboratory environments is beneficial but not required.
