The University of Bergen invites applications for a PhD Research Fellow in Deep-Sea Microbiology at the Department of Biological Sciences. The project focuses on cultivating and characterizing previously uncultivated microorganisms from hydrothermal vent systems along the Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridges. The research will investigate methanogens, anaerobic methanotrophic archaea, and other microbial groups using advanced methods such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, phylogenomics, and enzyme characterization. The candidate will join the Deep-Sea Biology research group associated with the Centre for Deep Sea Research (CDeepSea) and may participate in deep-sea research cruises.
