PhD student in Astronomy

Stockholm, Sweden
Closes in 14 days (Mar 16, 2026)

The Department of Astronomy invites applications for up to six PhD positions across Stars, Exoplanets, Supernovae & Computational Astrophysics, Galaxies, and Cosmology. Projects include 3D non-LTE stellar spectroscopy using 4MOST data, atmospheric characterization of long-period exoplanets, high-performance simulations of core-collapse supernovae, JWST-based studies of star cluster formation, and ERC-funded COSMOMAG research on cosmic magnetic fields and early-universe physics. Doctoral candidates will work with advanced observational data, numerical modelling, and theoretical analysis to address fundamental questions about stellar evolution, galaxy formation, and the origin of cosmic structure.
