Postdoc (f/m/d)

Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany
Closes in 11 days (Mar 13, 2026)

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to develop AI-based spatial reconstruction methods for urban green roof soil moisture within the Helmholtz Water Security Initiative. The role focuses on building generative AI models (GANs, diffusion models, transformers) combined with spatiotemporal interpolation techniques to transfer observed moisture dynamics across urban roof networks. The researcher will integrate multimodal datasets including sensor measurements, meteorological data, urban morphology, and remote sensing sources to produce uncertainty-aware hydrological estimates supporting Blue-Green infrastructure planning and stormwater management. Tasks include model development, sensor data management, collaboration with municipal partners, and publishing scientific results in international journals.
