Postdoc to the unit diagnostic radiology

Lund University – Faculty of Medicine, Department of Translational Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the LUCI (Lund University Breast Cancer Imaging) research environment. LUCI is a cross-disciplinary group focusing on innovative imaging methods and AI-based breast cancer diagnostics, combining expertise in diagnostic radiology, medical radiation physics, biomedical engineering, and clinical science. The postdoc will contribute to the collaborative AID4BC project, developing multimodal AI prediction models for precision breast cancer diagnostics using X-ray, pathology, genomic and clinical data.

Based at Skåne University Hospital (SUS) in Malmö, LUCI offers a dynamic and collegial research setting with national and international partners, including Karolinska Institutet, Linköping University, and Uppsala University. The research environment emphasizes scientific excellence, collaboration, personal development, and a supportive work culture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and validate AI-based models for multimodal breast cancer prediction.

  • Handle imaging and tabular datasets, including matching, processing, analysis, and model development.

  • Coordinate project activities with partner institutions and contribute to scientific publications.

  • Support supervision of PhD and Master’s students, and participate in group activities and data collection.

  • Engage in academic development with potential involvement in pedagogical training and teaching.

Required qualifications:

  • Completed PhD (or equivalent) in biomedical engineering, engineering physics, computer science, medical physics, or related field.

  • Strong research capability and programming skills.

  • Excellent written and spoken English, strong analytical and organizational abilities, and collaborative mindset.

Merits:

  • PhD awarded within the last three years.

  • Experience in medical image analysis, computer vision, or AI in healthcare.

  • Familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and Swedish language skills.

 

This full-time postdoctoral position is two years, with possible extension to three years under agreement. It offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge cancer diagnostics research within a supportive academic and clinical ecosystem.
