The position is a W3 Professorship in Political Science with a focus on the Global South, combined with the role of President of GIGA. The successful candidate will provide strategic academic leadership, advance internationally visible research on political, economic, and social developments across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, and strengthen collaboration between research, policy, and society. Responsibilities include limited teaching, institutional management, fundraising, and representing the institute globally while shaping interdisciplinary research agendas and governance-related scholarship.
