This PhD position is part of the MOMENTplus project investigating Arctic methane dynamics and carbon cycling in permafrost ecosystems using the ICON-Land model coupled with the Jena Soil Model. The research examines plant–microbe interactions and climate feedbacks in northern high-latitude environments. The candidate will collaborate with an interdisciplinary consortium of German institutions and contribute to land-surface model development within the School of Integrated Climate System Sciences, combining Earth system modelling with field-based insights into Arctic ecosystem change.
