The University of Bath is seeking a Software Licensing Officer to join its Digital, Data & Technology Group (DDaT). This role plays a vital part in ensuring that the University’s software licensing and procurement activities are compliant, cost-effective, and delivered with an excellent customer experience. The postholder will support university-wide software approval, renewal, and licence management processes.
Working closely with academic and professional services colleagues, the Software Licensing Officer will help maintain a coherent and efficient software licensing environment that delivers value for money while meeting institutional and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities and expectations include:

Reviewing and triaging software licence requests to ensure timely and appropriate processing.

Liaising with requestors, suppliers, procurement, and internal DDaT teams to secure cost-effective software solutions.

Maintaining accurate records within the University’s Software Catalogue.

Managing the software licence renewal calendar to ensure licences are renewed before termination.

Providing advice and guidance on compliant and cost-efficient approaches to software and hardware contracts.

Maintaining up-to-date licensing knowledge materials and ensuring effective information management.

Identifying process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience.

Deputising for the Software Licensing Manager when required.

Building strong working relationships across DDaT teams, including Cyber Security, Service Desk, Procurement, and product owners across the University.

Contract and benefits:

Full-time, fixed-term contract (36.5 hours per week).

Expected start date: February 2026, ending 12 February 2027.
