University Professorship (W3) “Compressible Flows”

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) invites applications for a permanent W3 Professorship in Compressible Flows within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The position focuses on fundamental research in compressible flow phenomena, including multiphase flows, gas dynamics, fluid-structure interaction, and aero-acoustics using numerical, experimental, or theoretical methods. The successful candidate will strategically develop research at the Institute of Thermal Turbomachinery, contribute to energy transition research, and collaborate with industry partners such as the Rolls-Royce University Technology Center. Teaching responsibilities include thermofluid dynamics courses at bachelor’s and master’s levels. Candidates must demonstrate international research excellence, leadership experience, and success in acquiring third-party research funding.
