W1 Junior Professorship with Tenure Track W2 for Ancient History, in particular Cultural History of Greco-Roman Egypt

The Faculty of Humanities invites applications for a Junior Professorship (W1TTW2) in Ancient History with a focus on the cultural history of Greco-Roman Egypt (4th century BC–6th century AD). Research will examine the materiality, mediality, and usage contexts of written artefacts, contributing to interdisciplinary manuscript studies and the Cluster of Excellence “Understanding Written Artefacts II.” The role includes teaching across History and Manuscript Cultures programs, collaboration with Classical Philology and Archaeology, and developing an internationally visible research profile leading toward tenure.
